6 hours

AUDIENCE:

THE BRIEF:

Visual artist Sophie Clements and the audio artist Scanner were commissioned to produce the audio visual piece ‘Of Air and Ear’ for the beautiful Paul Hamlyn Hall.  Our brief was to realise their artistic vision for the space. We took the concept from a drawing on a piece of paper to a computer model and then into reality.

DESCRIPTION:

Filling the space with eleven giant screens ranging from 1.7M to 5M in diameter and hanging 10M in the air.  The screens formed two huge cones perfectly aligned with the beams of two precisely positioned 20,000 lumin projectors.  The giant hoops the screens were stretched over had to be manufactured in pieces and assembled on-site because of their sheer scale. Each screen and the projectors were all hung at millimetre perfect distances along a single length of 25M Supertruss and once in place raised into the roof of the Paul Hamlyn Hall. "The result was a dialogue of colour, music, texture and light to create a visually stunning piece for the audience below".
